Conceptio in Itinere

Venice, classic walking tour

Between water and sky
length 2hrs approx
Available: everyday am/pm  (on Sunday and festive days, the Basilica is opened only in the afternoon)

Let's discover one of the most particular cities on earth with a pleasant walk among its monuments and a view of the Basilica from the inside.

We will start with visiting the world-wide known St Mark's Square and all monuments surrounding it. We will discover the enchanting corners of this city on the water, walking through the narrow calle (alleys) of the city centre, crossing canals and passing by historical buildings.

Our tour ends with the visit of the interior of St Mark's Basilica of Byzantine and Gothic design and its richness of marbles and precious sculptures.  Optional is the visit to the bell-tower, from where you can enjoy a breath-taking view of the city and the lagoon. Its story is linked to the memory of the traditional Carnival fest, when an acrobat (an angel) files down, on a tense rope, from the tower to the boat in the lagoon (or on the Palace's loggia). The visit to the bell.tower is something ones should not miss. Here, Galileo Galilei was used to observe the sky roads and it was right here that the scientist presented, on 1609, his telescope to the Doge.

Tour includes:  authorized local English speaking guide, internal visit of St Mark’s Basilica and hear-phones when more than 20 pax.
